Introduction
------------
Most people, especially those from the UK, remember the Falklands War in 1982.
It could be regarded as an exercise in power projection, under the most
difficult circumstances.
What if Argentina rearmed, and tried again in 2002, with the UK busy helping
UN / SEATO operations arround Korea.....
>>>>> MESSAGE BEGINS <<<<<
LEVEL : MOST SECRET
DATE : 03 APR 2002
TIME : 03:27 Z
FROM : Secretary of State for Defence
Chief of the Defence Staff
TO : Admiral commanding Task Force Nelson
REF : Recovery of the Falklands.
Argentina mounted SF ops, air strikes and a covert maritime blockade of the
Falklands, which concluded in yesterday's invasion. The Royal Marines managed
to protect one of our radar installations, and part of the airfield at Mount
Pleasent is still held. The main airport at Port Stanley was captured by SF
and airborne troops, and is now thought to operate Su-27K interceptors.
Argentina is also reinforcing its forces on the islands, with a convoy of
amphibs en route. There are also submarines patrols, and at least one FFG-
based SAG which is operating in paralell to their ex-French navy CV. They have
put both their new Su-27K and old Super Etendards on board.
Your mission is composed of several interlocking parts:
- destroy the airfield on the Argentine mainland, using the new SLCMs which
were fitted onto two of out "Trafalgar" SSNs 3 years ago.
NOTE : These two submarines are ONLY to be used for this SLCM strike.
- use your RAF assets at Ascension Island whenever possible as you won't
have enough Sea Harriers to do the test. Also remember that the JSF can be
forward deployed to Mount Pleasent airfield, after the Port Stanley airfield
has been destroyed.
- sink this new enemy aircraft carrier, and all of its escorting warships.
- sink the enemy amphib convoy before it reaches the islands.
- protect your own Task Force.
Just a moment, Admiral... I've got a signal coming it...
.....attack on airbase.... commandos on runways...help....
.....they have just blown up a Harrier help......... <lost SATCOM>
It seems that some of the aircraft on Ascension Island have been damaged by
enemy commandos. You also need to protect your bases.
Good Luck, we are counting on you.

A few notes and reminders on the above.....
-------------------------------------------
HMS Ocean : simulated by USS Inchon, LPH-12
2 x new LPDs : simulated by 2 x USN LPDs
Trafalgar + SLCMs : simulated by 2 x USN Los Angeles SSN
Sea King HAS.6 : final deployment, ONLY for ASuW & ASW
EH.101 Merlin : first deployment, for Royal Marines lift
EFA 2000 : simulated by Rafale, primarily for long-range A/G

There is a 2 ship forward-deployed aircraft warning picket. These 2 ships MUST
be protected.
There is also an Upholder class SS with SBS commandos near one of the Argentine
airbases.
Nuclear release will NOT be given.
Don't forget the submarines.....
You CAN win this scenario!!!!
Your aircraft carrier must be protected at all costs.
You have very few escort ships for this mission - don't lose any of them!!
Send me any messages with your comments on this scenario.
